The Texas Rangers are in the middle of a rather up and down season. They have the potential to compete, but injuries have been a concern for the Rangers . Shortstop Corey Seager is among the Rangers battling injury trouble, as he has been dealing with a back concern. On Tuesday, the Rangers announced that Seager was sent to Double-A on a rehab assignment . Additionally, outfielder Wyatt Langford 's rehab assignment was transferred from Triple-A to Double-A.
Seager, 32, has been one of the best hitters in the game over the years. He struggled through 42 games in 2026 before landing on the injured list, though. The Rangers star currently holds a lackluster slash line of .179/.286/.353 this season.
The hope is that Seager will find his rhythm after returning from injury. Texas understands that Seager needs to perform at a high level in order for the team to compete. He features an MVP-caliber ceiling, so the Rangers need him to lead the way.
Texas holds a 29-31 record at the moment. The Rangers are in second place in the American League West standings, where they trail the first place Seattle Mariners by 2.5 games. The AL West is one of the worst divisions in baseball so Texas could compete for a division championship. With that being said, the Mariners have been playing well in recent action.
For now, the Rangers are focused on their upcoming matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. First pitch for the Rangers and Cardinals clash on Tuesday night in St. Louis is scheduled for 7:45 PM EST.
