Now it's the Carolina Panthers who may have to buckle up for running back Rico Dowdle .
Dowdle, the team's leading rusher from this past season, was officially introduced as a Pittsburgh Steeler on Friday afternoon. And during his press conference, the 27-year-old was asked if the matchup against the Panthers in 2026 is one to make note of.
Here was his response . . .
This wouldn't be the first time that Dowdle has looked forward to facing off with a former employer. He, somewhat famously, warned the Dallas Cowboys to " buckle up " for their showdown in Week 6 of the 2025 campaign—where he stomped out his first NFL squad for 183 rushing yards, 56 receiving yards and a touchdown in a 30-27 win .
Pittsburgh, one of Carolina's road opponents for this upcoming season, signed Dowdle to a two-year, $12.25 million deal out of free agency.
