The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially signed third-round pick Gennings Dunker after selecting the former Iowa offensive lineman with the 96th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Contract details of the four-year deal were not disclosed.
Dunker adds another physical presence to Pittsburgh's offensive line room as the organization continues investing heavily in the trenches. Known for his toughness and run-blocking ability at Iowa, Dunker quickly became a player the Steelers targeted during the middle rounds because of his fit within the team's offensive identity.
Although Dunker primarily played tackle in college, many around the league project him to move inside to guard at the NFL level. Pittsburgh appears to view him similarly, with the expectation that he will compete for immediate snaps along the interior offensive line during training camp and preseason action.
At Iowa, Dunker was part of a Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line, an honor given annually to the top offensive line unit in college football. He built a reputation as one of the tougher linemen in the Big Ten, using his strength and physicality to consistently hold up in the run game. His aggressive play style and ability to finish blocks made him an appealing fit for a Steelers offense looking to become more physical up front.
The Steelers have continued prioritizing offensive line depth over the last several drafts, but Dunker may have a realistic path to early playing time if he adjusts well to the transition inside. His size, power, and experience against high-level competition give the organization confidence he can push for a starting guard role sooner rather than later.
