Recently, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has been embroiled in a feud with ESPN sports media personality Stephen A. Smith , who has never been shy about making himself a part of the story. The controversy arose after Smith criticized Brown for going on a live stream just hours after his team completed a 3-1 collapse in the first round against the Philadelphia 76ers , with the Celtics star asking Smith to retire.

Now, Smith has fired back, endorsing a trade rumor that would send Brown to the Milwaukee Bucks as the centerpiece of a package for Giannis Antetokounmpo .

“Jaylen Brown clearly loves driving the bus. Let him drive somewhere else,” said Smith, per First Take on X, formerly Twitter, continuing to criticize Brown for saying that this was his favorite season of his career, one that occurred with co-star Jayson Tatum mostly sidelined due to an Achilles tear.

While the Celtics might certainly be interested in parting with Brown if it meant bringing in a consensus top-five player in Antetokounmpo, it’s unclear what the Bucks would gain from such a deal, as Brown will be 30 by the time next season gets underway and does not at all fit the timeline of a rebuilding team, which Milwaukee would be if it parted ways with its franchise cornerstone.

Perhaps Brown could be the centerpiece of a three-team deal that would move him elsewhere and still allow the Celtics to bring in Antetokounmpo, but for now, it’s unclear how such a transaction would materialize.

In the meantime, Smith is clearly loving the attention that was once again paid to him by a high-profile athlete, as has become a trend over the last couple of NBA seasons.
