Three Tar Heels earn All-ACC honors
North Carolina freshman forward Caleb Wilson was named to the All-ACC first team and redshirt junior center Henri Veesaar was selected to the second team, the league announced Monday.
Wilson received the second-most votes for the first team and was also named to the All-ACC rookie team.
Senior guard Seth Trimble received All-ACC honorable mention. He averaged 14.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
The 6-foot-10 forward from Atlanta is the first North Carolina freshman to make the All-ACC first team since Tyler Hansbrough in 2006. Wilson, Hansbrough and Antawn Jamison (1996) are the only Tar Heel freshmen to earn first-team honors.
Wilson averaged team highs of 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds. Despite sustaining a season-ending injury, he broke the Tar Heels’ freshman record for most 20-point games, previously held by Hansbrough.
Veesaar joins Robert McAdoo (first team in 1972), Cameron Johnson (first team in 2019) and Harrison Ingram (third team in 2024) as the fourth Tar Heel to earn All-ACC honors after transferring into the program. Before arriving in Chapel Hill, Veesaar played two seasons and redshirted another at Arizona.
Veesaar averaged 16.3 points on 61.4% shooting from the field and 41.5% shooting from 3-point range. He also averaged 8.4 rebounds.
The All-ACC first team is Wilson, Duke’s Cameron Boozer, Stanford’s Ebuka Okorie, Miami’s Mailk Reneau and Virginia’s Thijs De Ridder.
The second team is Veesaar, SMU’s Boopie Miller, Wake Forest’s Juke Harris, Miami’s Tre Donaldson and Louisville’s Ryan Conwell.
North Carolina and Miami were the only schools with multiple players on the first and second teams. The All-ACC rookie team includes Wilson, Boozer, Okorie, Louisville’s Mikel Brown Jr. and De Ridder.
North Carolina has a double bye into the 2026 ACC Tournament quarterfinals and will play at approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12. The Tar Heels will face Clemson, Virginia Tech or Wake Forest.
