After the Oklahoma City Thunder lost in the Western Conference Finals to the San Antonio Spurs in seven games, the team is entering an interesting offseason, with the speculation now surrounding star Chet Holmgren . While a trade involving the Thunder dealing away Holmgren has been speculated after a pedestrian conference finals run, this NBA insider gives insight into how the team feels about the scenario.

Besides Holmgren's lackluster postseason, capping off with a four-point performance in Game 7 against the Spurs, he is now entering the first year of his five-year, $239 contract extension, set to make $41.25 million next season. However, after the playoffs, the talk of Oklahoma City trading him got big, but ClutchPoints' NBA insider Brett Siegel said that the Thunder "are by no means looking to move" Holmgren.
"The easy answer, and one some around the league have suggested, is to trade the 24-year-old All-Defensive big man while he still has value at the start of his mega contract. Perhaps Holmgren's long-term future will come up as a minor talking point for Presti and other high-ranking front-office members in Oklahoma City this offseason, but the Thunder are by no means looking to move him this summer , two sources close to the organization told ClutchPoints on Monday," Siegel wrote.
More on the Thunder's thinking with not wanting to trade Chet Holmgren
While the Thunder don't feel the need to trade Holmgren, as he's still a crucial part of the team's current landscape, what about if he's in a deal for Giannis Antetokounmpo ? Siegel would report that the scenario isn't one that Oklahoma City has "ever expressed interest in."

"Whereas some with other organizations have suggested the obvious swap of draft capital and Holmgren for Giannis Antetokounmpo to combat Wembanyama 's rise for years to come, this simply isn't a scenario the Thunder have ever expressed interest in," Siegel wrote.
At any rate, it remains to be seen what happens with Holmgren, as while the Thunder and the Spurs will be at the top of the West for the foreseeable future, the big man will look to improve against star Victor Wembanyama .
