The Minnesota Twins have not had the best season so far, sitting in third place in the AL Central. This has led to speculation that the Twins will be selling at the MLB Trade Deadline, and pitcher Joe Ryan has been the subject of trade rumors .
Now, thanks to one change in a stat from a game on June 30 , according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic.
"This play in Joe Ryan 's June 30 start at Houston that originally was ruled a hit has been changed to an error on Royce Lewis . The ruling means all six runs Ryan allowed are now unearned, which drops his ERA from 3.36 to 2.85," Hayes posted on X, formerly Twitter.

The play was initially ruled as a one-out single by Taylor Tramell. On the next play, the Astros singled, driving in a run. Still, the player would not have been in scoring position on third outside of the single, which has now been changed to a fielder's choice and an error by Royce Lewis.
"Joe Ryan's updated stat line: 6-5, 2.85 ERA, 122 strikeouts and 23 walks in 104 1/3 IP," Hayes continued.
Originally, Ryan's line for the night was four innings of work, with six hits, three walks, and six earned runs. Now, it is four innings of work, with five hits, three walks, and six unearned runs, making his overall line for the season look even better.
The Twins still have a chance to make a run and get back into playoff position, rendering the idea of the team selling a moot point. The Twins are 44-47 on the year, placing them four games behind the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. They are also a game and a half back of the final wild card spot in the American League. They will begin a three-game set with the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night.
