USC running back Waymond Jordan out for remainder of spring practice

One of the biggest stars of the first half of USC’s 2025 season was running back Waymond Jordan. After serving as the Trojans ’ leading rusher over the first six games of the year, however, Jordan suffered an ankle injury against Michigan that kept him out for the second half of the season.

Now, Jordan is back at USC and looking to return to the field in 2026. However, that return will not come just yet, as this week, head coach Lincoln Riley announced that Jordan will miss the remainder of spring practice.

Per Riley , Jordan underwent a procedure to clean up the ankle injury that kept him out for the second half of last season. USC’s hope is presumably that he will be at full strength in time for the start of fall camp.

Obviously, Jordan missing the rest of spring practice is not ideal. With five months still remaining until the season opener, however, it makes complete sense for the Trojans to be extra cautious with him at this point.

The good news is that even without Jordan, USC still has a really good running back in King Miller. When Jordan and fellow back Eli Sanders both got hurt in the Michigan game last year, Miller stepped up and thrived , serving as the Trojans’ lead RB over their final seven games. With Jordan and Miller both returning, USC should have one of the best running back duos in the country in 2026.
