Los Angeles Angels outfielder Wade Meckler earned the Sports Info Solutions Defensive Player of the Month for his efforts with the glove in August.
Congratulations to Wade Meckler on being named a MLB Defensive Player of the Month for August by Sports Info Solutions!

While not an officially recognized MLB accolade, Meckler definitely earned his recognition with his defensive plays over the past month. Meckler added six defensive runs saved to his 2026 tally in August, robbing two potential home runs in the process.

The first of those two robberies came against the Texas Rangers on Aug. 11, snatching a three-run homer from over the fence in a 3-2 win. The second came against the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 28, though the Angels lost after Edmundo Sosa hit a grand slam shortly after.
Meckler's Glove this year grades above league average, as he has a plus-2 mark in both fielding run value and outs above average. That isn't the only area in which he is performing well, though.
The 26-year-old outfielder has played 76 games with the Angels so far, and has exceeded expectations after they claimed him off waivers in the offseason. He only has three homers and 23 RBIs, but his .296/.372/.385 slash line for a .757 OPS is well above league average.
He's also a threat on the base paths, swiping six bases without being thrown out this year.

Will the Angels Keep Wade Meckler After 2026?
Meckler is only in his second year of MLB service, meaning he still has plenty of team control for the Angels to work with.

The Angels have plenty of players who can play outfield, but Meckler is certainly one of the most reliable of them—meaning they'll almost definitely give him a 40-man roster spot in the offseason.
Meckler won't have any complaints about staying, either. A lifelong Angels fan and Orange County native, the outfielder has stated his adoration for the team—specifically Mike Trout—since his arrival in Anaheim.
"It's pretty surreal," Meckler said . "You grew up watching a guy every day on TV for 10 years, and then all of a sudden he's your teammate. It's pretty cool."
The outfielder will hope to continue earning the favor of his hometown fans throughout the remainder of the season as the Angels look to avoid a last place finish for the third season running.
