With the New York Yankees completing the series against the Texas Rangers , there is a development coming from the minor leagues, with pitcher Gerrit Cole continuously recovering from his Tommy John surgery back in March of 2025. As fans await the return of Cole in the majors for New York, there’s no denying that recovering from a surgery like the one he had puts things into “perspective,” as he echoed the same sentiments, via SNY Yankees.

“You know, I just try to keep things in better perspective,” Cole said. “I’ve become a lot more grateful for the level of competition that the big leagues are, and how hard it is to play and how much I miss it. I hopefully improved as a father over the last several months, being around the kids and spending more time with them. And I think, you know, just a fresh perspective, just grateful to be, you know, playing a sport for a living is a blessing.”

Cole would also give insight into his recovery with the Yankees, especially with the rehab starts, and how each game has been a deep process of its own.

“You have moments where you would ideally like to be, and I think that’s natural,” Cole said. “And maybe those moments happen more frequently as you get closer, maybe to the end. Even though it’s like one start, there’s like five days of process that you got to execute. And the reality is I’m confident I’m going to execute these things, like, really, really well, but the reality is that it’s been a while since I’ve done them. So, you know, it may seem like the same thing over and over again, but that’s the point.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen when Cole comes back to the majors and performs for New York.
