With the series between the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros continuing over the weekend, there was some concern regarding star Giancarlo Stanton during the team’s 12-4 win on Friday. As Stanton experienced an injury scare in the Yankees’ win over the Astros, the star would give an update on how he’s feeling.
Stanton would leave in the sixth inning of the aforementioned win due to what manager Aaron Boone said was calf tightness, as he motioned to remove himself from the game. Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, Stanton would say that he “feels better,” but there have not been any tests yet, as the team will give it another day.
“Giancarlo Stanton said he feels better than yesterday, but he and the Yankees are gonna give him another 24 hours. Still no tests,” Phillips wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“It’s not ideal. But that doesn’t mean great or terrible,” Stanton said, via Phillips.
Stanton would also talk about even potentially pinch-hitting during this time, but isn’t sure of New York’s plans.
“Asked if he could pinch-hit tonight, Giancarlo Stanton said he hasn’t tried swinging a bat yet, so he’s not sure. Wasn’t sure if he would even try swinging either,” Phillips wrote on X.
Yankees’ Aaron Boone speaks on Giancarlo Stanton’s injury
There’s no denying that Stanton is a crucial part of the Yankees’ offense, with the team taking much care of the injury, as he has also dealt with a myriad of issues throughout his career.
“Yeah, just that some tightness in his calf . Hopefully, we got ahead of anything serious, so, but we’ll just see where he’s at tomorrow,” Boone said, according to MLB.com.
“He just motioned to me when he was on base, and then I don’t think he didn’t want to push it. He felt it when he was out at second,” Boone continued.
At any rate, it remains to be seen when Stanton officially returns to the lineup, as so far this season, he has recorded a .256 batting average to go along with three home runs and 14 RBIs.
