After sitting at 10–9, the Yankees quickly improved their record to 17–9 in a little over a week. The stretch included a seven-game winning streak and an 8–2 run over their last 10 games, pushing the club to the top of the AL East standings by four games entering Game 2 of their series against the Houston Astros .
This winning stretch followed a shaky period that included losses to the Athletics and Los Angeles Angels , but the Yankees responded with a decisive turnaround, fueled by strong pitching and timely hitting.
CC Sabathia reacted to the momentum on X, formerly Twitter, posting a message directed toward fans as the team continued its climb during a road trip.
"From 10-9 to 17-9, how we feeling NY?"
Sabathia's message reflects his continued connection to the franchise and its fan base. The Yankees legend remains an influential voice, especially as the organization prepares to retire his No. 52 later this season.

New York 's performance backs up the excitement. The team owns a .654 winning percentage and a plus 45 run differential. These numbers reinforce its status as a legitimate contender early in the 2026 campaign.
The Yankees now carry momentum into their road matchup vs. the Houston Astros. With confidence building and the Pinstripes icon endorsement amplifying the moment, New York continues to trend upward in the standings.
After a hot start that included a series sweep of the San Francisco Giants , the team also showed its ability to respond to adversity. Ultimately, the Yankees have shifted their narrative in a matter of days. The recent winning streak, paired with Sabathia's viral post, shows a club finding its identity at the right time, supported by improved bullpen consistency and more balanced lineup production that has helped sustain rallies, generate consistent offense, and secure wins during this stretch.
