With the 2026 All-Star Break rapidly approaching, fans of the New York Yankees are scouring the league looking for an upgrade.
Should the Bronx Bombers target more pitching? An outfielder who can provide depth once Aaron Judge returns ? Or maybe an infielder who can shore up a position once and for all? Well, 880 ESPN New York's Buster Olney thinks he has the perfect target for the Yankees: Luis Arraez of the San Francisco Giants .
"And I do think they have to find a way to build a bridge to that time when Judge, and Stanton and Fried and Rodon, they come back, which is why I think today, Jesse, that Brian Cashman, the anchor general manager, should get on the phone with the San Francisco giants and basically not let Buster Posey off the phone until he makes a deal for Luis Arraez . Like to me, he is the perfect guy to add right in this moment. He's having a terrific year," Olney said.

"He's batting .326. We've heard about his investment in defense this year, working with Ron Washington. But to me, Luis Arraez is like the metronome of hitters, and you need a consistent force. You know, with a young Ben Rice still establishing himself, Cody Bellinger can have some ups and downs. You get Luis Arraez. I think it helps right now. You put them at second base. You tell Jazz Chisholm , we're going to move you around as we move forward because Jazz has had an up-and-down year, and then when Judge gets back, he's the perfect guy to bat behind Aaron Judge to make opposing pitchers, opposing managers deal with Judge."
One of the more consistent hitters in baseball, with three batting titles and two Silver Sluggers on his resume, Arraez fills an obvious need for a Yankees team that has to get more players on base before their power hitters. Considering the Giants are going nowhere fast this season, adding Arraez not long after his appearance in the 2026 All-Star Game is a pretty great idea.
