The Denver Broncos placed pass rusher Ronnie Perkins on the waived/injured list on Tuesday to make room for the signing of inside linebacker Alec Mock, the team announced.
Perkins (6-3, 253 pounds) will now be subject to the NFL's waiver wire. If he clears waivers tomorrow, Perkins will revert to Denver's injured reserve list. Perkins would then be ruled out for the entire 2024 season unless the Broncos reach an injury settlement and cut him.
Denver signed Perkins off the New England Patriots ' practice squad last season. He appeared in seven games last fall, totaling 13 tackles and one quarterback hit on 149 snaps .
Mock (6-3, 240 pounds) joined the Broncos as an undrafted free agent from the Air Force Academy this spring, but he was waived in June. He now returns to the team to provide more depth at inside linebacker.
Mock totaled 224 tackles, five sacks, one interception, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one defensive touchdown in 38 games (35 starts) with the Air Force.
Following the two roster moves on Tuesday, Denver released its first depth chart of 2024 . Mock is listed as a fourth-string inside linebacker.
