Alabama football quarterback Jalen Milroe has been electric in his last few outings, and he might just be playing himself into the Heisman Trophy race.
The No. 7 Crimson Tide (8-2, 4-2 SEC) signal caller played only one drive in the second half of Alabama 's 52-7 win over FCS foe Mercer in Week 12, passing for 186 yards with two touchdowns while rushing for 43 yards and a score in the win. The week prior, Milroe was outstanding in a 42-13 road win over LSU , rushing for a whopping 185 yards with four touchdowns on 12 carries.

Milroe has the Crimson Tide firmly in the College Football Playoff race, as Alabama looks to make the SEC Championship game with remaining matchups against Oklahoma and Auburn this season, two games it is heavily favored in.
Milroe would likely be better regarded in the Heisman race if it wasn't for Alabama's midseason lull in which it was upset by Vanderbilt, nearly lost to South Carolina and fell to Tennessee in consecutive weeks. However, the second-year starter has been much better as the weeks have progressed.
