- Mel Kiper Jr.: Alabama football's Jalen Milroe 'vying for QB one' in 2025 NFL draft
Four games into his second season as Alabama football's starting quarterback, Jalen Milroe is already being projected as a top selection in the 2025 NFL draft.
While naming Colorado 's Shedeur Sanders , Miami's Cam Ward , Georgia's Carson Beck and Texas ' Quinn Ewers as options to be the first quarterback off the board in the 2025 draft, ESPN NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said the Crimson Tide signal caller has played his way into consideration.
"You see the progression," Kiper said on ESPN's "Get Up" Tuesday. "He's been a great deep ball thrower, great deep ball accuracy. The progression has been short, intermediate, precise passing, accurate passing. Operations, right? The details, the presnap, he's getting better at that. Jalen Milroe , to me, is in the mix to be certainly QB one and be a top-10 pick overall and maybe even higher than that by the time we get to late April."

Jalen Milroe was 'best version' of himself vs. Georgia
Through four games, Milroe has 964 passing yards, 18 touchdowns - 10 passing and eight rushing - and one interception. Milroe is coming off a career-best performance in the Crimson Tide's 41-34 win vs. Georgia where he had 374 passing yards, 117 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
In Milroe, Kiper said he sees a quarterback who is "faster than everybody" and is reminiscent of former Louisville and current Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson .
"He makes the position that is the most difficult to play in sports look easy at times, not hard," Kiper said of Milroe. "That's what the great ones do. Everything slows down. They are just toying with you."
