Athletics slugger Tyler Soderstrom's season will reportedly come to an end after he undergoes hip surgery on Friday.

Pitching has been a struggle for the A's this season, and this southpaw addition could be a hidden gem.

The Athletics have claimed lefty Joe Rock off waivers from the White Sox and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas for bullpen depth.

The White Sox turned blocked infielder Oliver Dunn into 25-year-old lefty Joe Rock, a former Rays starter with swing-and-miss stuff and enough upside to become an MLB bullpen option sooner rather than later.

It remains to be seen what impact these two players can have.
