Our countdown of the Tar Heels' best games from last season begins with an ACC victory that featured one Tar Heel's career night.

The 2025-26 season for North Carolina didn't exactly go as planned on the basketball court, though I don't think it was a bad season by any means. Still, since the year didn't end with a national championship, I can understand why some fans weren't too happy with it.

The former North Carolina center signed his deal with the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.

Some players in the 2026 NBA Draft have been criticized for not returning to college, though I don't think it's really fair to say that players who were drafted made the wrong decision. One of those guys is North Carolina standout Henri Veesaar, who was eventually drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round.

Here is what the former North Carolina center said during his introductory press conference.

North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar are carrying a piece of Chapel Hill with them to the NBA. Wilson will wear No. 8 with the Chicago Bulls, while Veesaar will wear No. 13 with the Atlanta Hawks — the same numbers they wore for the Tar Heels.

Henri Veesaar fell in the 2026 NBA Draft to the second round, now he says he was surprised by that.

Veesaar's decision to stay in the draft didn't pay off in the immediate moment.

Henri Veesaar was expected to hear his name called much earlier.
