Here are some notes, quotes, trends, and other odds & ends I emptied out of the old notebook after Monday's 100-60 UNM Lobos win over Utah Tech in the Pit: Tunde's big second half Monday night might have been the Jake Hall show for Lobos basketball, but while the primary plan is (and will remain) to maximize Hall’s scoring, Monday's 100-60 Lobos win over Utah Tech also showed the importance of ...

ALBUQUERQUE — If the University of New Mexico’s trio of exhibition games provided the blueprint for how the current club would fare as the preseason Mountain West favorite, Monday’s actual opener provided some of the building blocks. As advertised, Jake Hall can score. And as advertised, the Lobos offense could be pretty good this season. The second-year shooting sensation scored 30 points, one of four Lobos in double figures, and UNM beat Utah Tech 100-60 in Monday's season opener before an announced Pit crowd of 10,858. “I think we've seen some flashes of we have a chance to be a good team," said Lobos coach Eric Olen, ...

In the end, Arizona State hit 16 of 41 3-pointers and UNM’s second-year scoring sensation Jake Hall went just 3-for-13 from beyond the arc in a 91-86 Lobos loss in front of an announced crowd of 7,447 in the Pit. And ...

Eric Olen started Sunday’s postgame press conference in the Pit thanking the announced 6,168 fans who showed up for a preseason exhibition game that, frankly, wasn’t a particularly a good show. That was no fault of the Lobos, who thumped their Pac-12 opponent 92-64 in a game that saw UNM, even without the services of one expected starter, empty the bench in the first 10 minutes of the game, ...

Oct. 18—Mountain West Freshman of the Year and sophomore guard Jake Hall scored 22 points on 8 of 10 shooting and the University of New Mexico Lobos Men's basketball team beat the Washington State Cougars 92-64 in an exhibition game at The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Sunday. The Cougars never really stood a chance after the Lobos went on an 8-2 run to start the game, and pulled away with ...
