New York Islanders head coach recently shook up his lines to get a young player going and it has worked.

Islanders head coach Peter DeBoer saw two of his forwards go down in the first period but despite the short bench, they pulled off a "gutsy, gritty" 4-1 road win in Toronto. Simon Holmstrom broke out of his scoring slump with a pair of goals and captain Bo Horvat added a tally as well. Horvat was proud of the way the team "stepped it up tonight."

One team was still playing preseason hockey.

The 2026-27 season is on the horizon for the New York Islanders, so it's time to preview the season and highlight expectations for the team and each specific player.
