Jack Finley is competing for a roster spot with the St. Louis Blues, and while his defensive game is excellent, coach Jim Montgomery wants more from his 6-foot-6 center.

Team grabs former Blues defenseman Jeff Finley's son, forward Jack Finley, off waivers from Lightning

The Lightning announced Friday that Jack Finley has been assigned to AHL Syracuse on a conditioning stint. The 23-year-old forward spent the past two seasons working his way towards a regular NHL opportunity, appearing in just one game for Tampa Bay last season.

Jack Finley scored his first NHL goal early in the third period to break a tie and the Tampa Bay Lightning held on to beat the Florida Panthers 3-1 on Saturday night. Emil Lilleberg and Zemgus Girgensons also scored for the Lightning. Brad Marchand scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season for Florida, a power-play tally midway through the second period that tied it at 1.

The Tampa Bay Lightning certainly have some prospects to keep an eye on next season. When looking at their current prospect pool, a few of them have real shots of getting more NHL time next season, just like Gage Goncalves did in 2024-25.
