Ahead of joining Newcastle United last summer (2025), Antonio Cordero seen as one of the best emerging young talents in Spain and attracting interest from many clubs, Cordero managed 13 direct goal involvements for Malaga in the Spanish second tier 2024/25 season, scoring six and getting seven assists. After signing for United, the then 18-year-old sent to Belgian top tier club Westerlo to get some regular first team football to help his progression.
