Ben Johnson wants Bears to have 'highest-scoring offense ever'

"i want to have the highest scoring offense ever," says Bears head coach Ben Johnson.
In fact, he said, "I, I know how many points per game they scored, 37.9, and I wanna surpass them.
I want shutouts.
I want blowouts."
Ben Johnson, I have learned, is a certified maniac, and I say that in the most- complimentary way possible.
But he is incredibly confident in this Bears offense this season.
Frank, in your opinion, can they do it?
Can this Bears team surpass the 2013 Denver Broncos, who scored almost 40 point- 38, excuse me, 38 points per game, and become the highest-scoring NFL offense of all time?
Probably not.
I mean, the, that, there's a reason they're number one all time.
Nobody else, in NFL history has done that.
But, the Bears could make a run at it, I guess.
Like, look- if Caleb Williams, Caleb Williams is the linchpin to all this.
We know that.
We've seen the highlights.
We know he can come up with some clutch throws.
The, I still am in awe at that touchdown pass he made against the Rams to send that game into overtime.
What just has to happen now with Caleb is the play-to-play consistency.
Bears fans don't like talking about his completion percentage, but it is a thing.
He can't leave as many throws on the field as he did.
Even, yes, they'll talk about, "Oh, he had a lot of throwaways, that," yeah, I get that, but he's still, we know he's not the most accurate quarterback.
But if he could bump that up a little bit, if he can get a little more consistent with his accuracy, all of a sudden he unlocks a lot of things.
And you look at the talent around him, and it's Cole Kelson Loveland, awesome rookie season.
Luther Burden looked really, really good.
Matt Harmon's favorite, Roma Dunze, he still has that- top 10 draft pedigree.
They have a good running game, which was always a staple of Ben Johnson's offenses in Detroit, and you see that happening, D'Andre Swift and Khalil Macigai.
So, all the ingredients are there for them to have a really, really good offense.
Now, highest scoring of all time, like you're gonna be playing games in December in Chicago when the wind is 50 miles an hour and you might put up 14 points.
Like that, that could set you back a little bit.
I think this offense is going to be really, really good, not the highest scoring of all time.
But I have no problem with Ben Johnson coming out and saying it.
Why not?
Why- Aim high.
The NFL's so boring sometimes.
We, we talked about- Jerry Jones before, and h- he just doesn't care.
I'm, I'm putting the bar high, Super Bowl.
I don't mind if Ben Johnson coming in and saying, "Yeah, I, I keep beating Matt LaFleur, and I'm gonna keep beating him when I, now that I'm Bears head coach."
Like, why not?
Why not say you're gonna be the highest-scoring offense of all time?
It is an entertainment business, and it also sets a bar for your team that, yeah, maybe they don't get to 38 points a game, but maybe it's 31 and they win the NFC North again.
Like I, they would sign up for that right now.
