Breaking down Team USA's pitching rotation

We know now that the pool play starting pitching schedule is going to be Logan Webb against Brazil, Tarik Skubal against Great Britain, Paul Skeens against Mexico, and then Nolan McLain, who is yet to report to Team USA camp because he's been dealing with some sort of sickness.
But assuming he's all good, it will be Nolan McLain against Italy.
And according to reporting from Joel Sherman, it sounds like Nolan McLain is gonna be the guy lined up to start the final, which is compelling.
McLain's getting the nod over a Waka, Matthew Boyd, Clay Holmes, which in some respects is not that surprising.
But again, you're talking about a guy with eight career starts.
Now they have to get there, and there's a long way to go before then.
But the McLain part of this is certainly the most compelling for me here.
That he's gonna get this start probably and no one will bat an eye on the team just shows how advanced of a talent Nolan McLain is.
This is not particularly surprising.
