Vida Vea has agreed to a one-year extension on his contract for $30 million, which ends one of the more controversial contract situations we had coming into this season.
They agree on this extension, first reported by Adam Schefter.
Vea now tied to Tampa for two more seasons, gets $6 million in new money.
But I'm gonna be honest, Caroline, I have no idea what the hell the Buccaneers are actually doing this year.
Because this links them together- Yeah for a little bit of time, but they're still sitting here not really with any long-term decision.
According to Baker Mayfield, nowhere close to, to an agreement with their quarterback.
It feels like they're dipping their toes in a wait and see, and I don't know if you can do that in the, in the modern NFL.
I don't know if you can just run it back and say, "Well, you know what?
If Baker plays lights out, everything's great.
We'll figure it out.
And if he doesn't, we'll figure it out."
Like, I don't know if you can run into the NFL without some sort of a five-year plan, or at least a sureness to the one-year plan that excuses why you don't have a five-year plan.
Right now, the Bucs feel to me like they're just good enough to be a pain in the ass, not good enough to win a Super Bowl, and they don't have a long-term plan that's gonna be the bridge that gets them to that next level.
