I said this on a local Nashville show.
I said, "Right now, Cam Ward looks more like a bust than he looks like the savior of the Titans franchise."
And everyone got so mad at me for saying that.
But I would just like to challenge those people and tell me why I'm wrong.
I am not willing to say today that Cam Ward is definitively a bust in the NFL, because he is going into year two.
And if you just have one year of a sample size, and, if you have one year of a sample size and it's absolutely dreadful, sure, then fine, you can come up with the, with your conclusions.
But I don't think just one year of Cam Ward and what we saw of him is enough for me to say that he is definitively a bust.
But he has to be significantly better.
He has to take care of the football.
We saw it in the Titans preseason game on Sunday night, that Cam Ward was running around.
He was just He was carrying the football out here like this, and it got batted down.
You know, a turnover right there.
Like, he needs to be, make smarter decisions.
He needs to take care of the football.
He needs to be able to move the football more.
There was a statistic that Cam Ward does not have a single completion in the preseason of more than seven yards.
He has to be better.
So I'm not gonna say right now that he is a bust, but Cam Ward has a lot to prove this season to make me change my mind that he does look more like a franchise savior than he does a bust.
I think sometimes when we hear the phrase bust, everybody thinks that that means you're putting it squarely at the feet of the athlete.
Like, two things could be true here.
I think the Titans so far have done everything they possibly can to fail Cam Ward.
They didn't put good enough weapons around him in year one.
They didn't have the right coaching staff around him in year one.
Now they've changed everything around him in year two.
I also think that I expected a big leap forward in the preseason, and so far we haven't seen any of that.
In fact, there's a good film breakdown on ESPN showing some of the thor- throws that he absolutely missed.
There are better weapons around him.
He has not played particularly well.
Now, maybe he'll get it figured out.
But if the question is right now, does he look like a bust?
He looks a hell of a lot closer to a bust than he does to a franchise quarterback
