Left tackle Laremy Tunsil suffered a torn triceps during one-on-one pass rush drills at practice Saturday, will likely require surgery.
The five-time Pro Bowler is expected to miss a significant portion of the regular season.
Let's remind the world that Laremy Tunsil, highest, contract in the NFL for a reason, $30 million- Mm-hmm a year left tackle gone on a quarterback in Jayden Daniels that had his health issues last year, now learning a new offense.
This feels like a nightmare for the Commanders, Caroline.
It feels like just salt in the injury wound that was opened last season for Commanders fans.
I mean, an injury-riddled season for Jayden Daniels last year, fast-forward to now, and it, it, it feels like this offense has already taken such a massive hit in the se- preseason.
Haven't, hasn't even started.
I think that a left tackle injury, especially a left tackle injury to one of the best left tackles in the National Football League, which is what N- Laremy Tunsil is, especially a left tackle on an offensive line that's protecting a quarterback that likes to kinda go off script, a quarterback that is so good at improvising, it's part of what makes Jayden Daniels look like Superman at times.
So you lose a left tackle, that's absolutely worthy of panic because left tackles just don't really grow on trees.
And a left tackle is a really difficult plug-and-play type of position because the Commanders are faced with a couple of different options.
They can swing a right tackle over to the left side and then try and find a, a, an, an, a replacement for the right tackle.
Okay, well now you're replacing two pieces on the offensive line instead of just one.
Okay, can you just go find a left tackle out there on the street?
Really hard to do.
Left tackle is really hard to find, and then w- if you do find that guy, when you do find that guy, it's a matter of plugging him in, finding that chemistry and cohesion with the rest of the offensive line, trying to get a, a good feel for the way that Jayden Daniels likes to operate.
Losing one piece of the offensive line disrupts so much more than just that one position.
So coming off of the injuries of last season, now I, I think it's definitely panic time in Washington.
This is brutal, a brutal break for Jayden Daniels himself and for the Commanders as a whole.
