The Mets and Rangers consummated a swap, sending Brandon Nimmo, The longest-tenured Met, from Queens, to Arlington in exchange for second baseman Marcus Simeon, who will be heading to Queens.
These are two players who have meant a lot to both of these teams in very different respects.
Obviously, Marcus Simeon is on the Rangers.
The Rangers were his.
His 4th Major League franchise, but Mark Simeon arriving in Texas alongside Corey Seager.
And winning the World Seriesthe first World Series in franchise history, It was a huge deal, and you'll never be able to take that away from him.
You know what he was able to do coming over in free agency.
In that 2023 season was astonishing, and Marcus Simeon is one of the most underrated, Just the kind of careers we've had in this generation of baseball because he was so mid For so long, and then suddenly was just like, you know what, I'm an MVP candidate.
Uh, that is still something I wrap my head around every time I open up his baseball Reference page, but then you have Nimmo, which, you know, To be in an organization for as long as, as he had been.
Yes, we started to look at the roster around him and read some reports that maybe Brandon Nimmo is going to get squeezed out of this picture.
Even still, it's just shocking and kind of abrupt to, To have the ending to a tenure like this, that dates all the way back to then.
2011 draft, which is a long time, folks.
We just talked about Taylor Ward being with the Angels for a long time.
But Brandon Nimmo, a high school pick in 2011, a 10-year Major Leaguer with the New York Mets, Uh, he's the guy, and not just ten, I mean, he's been there, especially the last half.
Decade.
