He was bizarrely unlucky.

In 2025, he was definitely worse than before had been in the previous years Prior.

Both of those things are undeniably true.

And I think that what the Mets are counting on here with this deal.

Is it that luck bounces back to decent, instead of disastrous, He will be a very effective reliever.

Now the trumpeting elephant in the room is Mr. Edwin Daz, who has been the Mets' closer and best reliever for a number of years.

He is a free agent after opting out of his contract at the end of 2025.

Both he and the Mets have been quite public about their interest in a reunion.

The Williams deal, in my view, does not change that calculus for the Mets.

In my mind, it is the Mets saying to Daz, effectively, we are okay living without you.

If you decide to take a bag of money from the Los Angeles Dodgers, We will be OK.

It sets their price at one point.

I do think that when all is said and done, he will return to the Mets.

Um, but I think this move gives the Mets a little bit more leverage in negotiations.

We keep saying "like," and I, I've said it too, like, yeah, Dodgers, OK, Dodgers are gonna pay Daz.

I just don't know who else will be in the Edwin Daz market.

Except, I guess we just gottawhat did we just say earlier?

Right?

Toronto.

How much of a stare-down will Diaz get?

With the Mets, Dodgers, or Blue Jays in the coming weeks.

Or is he going to realize, all right, these are my options?

They're all offering me something the same, and I'm just going to kind of pick the, Pick the one.

It would be interesting to see what fans Response would be if Daz still ends up leaving.

I don't think it would be interesting.

I think it would be angry.

Like, Im okay, right?

Right, right.

And would they then go chase Robert Surez?

Or try to do, Add more to the bullpen beyond Williams, or just say great.

Williams is what we need, because you can certainly still argue that this is still a Bullpen in need of one or two more arms, whether Daz is there or not.
