Did you know one of college football's most famous traditions began by accident?
The gator chomp, yeah, the iconic move where Florida fans Clapped their arms like alligators was actually inspired by Jaws.
Back in 1981, two UF pep band members, Monty Musgrave and Rob Hyatt, We were at the game against Mississippi State.
The Bulldogs' band played the Jaws theme and Their cheerleaders Made a chomping motion.
The guys thought we could make this better for the Gators.
They went back to Gainesville and created a new cheer called Gator Jaws, then unveiled it The very next week, against LSU.
After some legal talks with John Williams, The composer of Jaws officially named it Gator Chomp.
And now its not just a cheer; its global symbol of Gator pride.
