I would put this in the boom-bust tier similar to like George Pickens and Malik Nabers, but the boom ability is, is obvious with A.J.
Brown.
It just comes down to how good of a talent is he?
I thought last year he was still really good.
He wasn't, you know, top five wide receiver on tape.
I think he was good enough to have another one of these great seasons, kinda like how like Davante Adams was playing in the last couple seasons.
I wanted to bring him up in particular because Patriots OC Josh McDaniels had some seasons with Davante Adams on the Raiders.
This was like right after the absolute peak of his prime.
In those seasons, 180 targets, 175 targets.
He caught over 100- Yes passes, in both of those seasons.
I think they can get A.J.
Brown in the slot in three wide receiver sets if they want to.
I don't think that he has to play this like static X receiver role.
In fact, that's where I would have Romeo Doubs, and then I would try to get A.J.
Brown, going a little bit more on some horizontal stuff and not just like kinda this vertical or hitch, kinda route tree that he had with the Eagles.
So I'm expecting more creativity, and I think the added creativity will probably hide some of the warts that you can possibly nitpick with A.J.
Brown.
But this is kinda like my version of the Omari Hampton stuff.
Like I don't wanna- Yeah nitpick, you know, any decline really I saw from him.
Like this is-- He's, he's with Drake May all of a sudden, and Josh McDaniels has a history here.
I just wanna like lean into it.
He's my 23rd overall player, and kind of what you're alluding to.
I, I think I am a little skeptical of h- he's declining in talent right now.
It's also difficult to say when everyone pulls up Twitter today and he is roasting Sauce Gardner on like the first rep of joint practices.
Yeah.
And looks totally fine, you know?
So- Yeah maybe I shouldn't bring up A.J.
Brown's talent at all.
But as you said, it felt like to open last year, he wasn't separating as much and he wasn't winning after the catch as often.
However, the Josh McDaniels factor of funneling in targets to the top receiving option, and also Drake May as a part of this- Yes where he is so willing to throw over the middle of the field and so willing to throw into tight coverage 10-plus yards down the field, that this is a perfect landing spot for A.J.
Brown- Yeah at this point.
