Jerry Jones cares more about Cowboys’ brand than ‘winning football games’

Do we really trust the Cowboys to fix this this off-season?
No!
Oh, God, no.
Why would I do that?
Why, why would I trust the Cowboys to fix this this off-season?
Why would I trust Jerry Jones to do anything?
I wholeheartedly believe in my heart of hearts that as long as Jerry Jones is calling the shots in Dallas, they won't sniff a Super Bowl, because I don't believe in Jerry Jones.
I don't believe that Jerry Jones makes smart football decisions.
I think that Jerry Jones, re- regardless of what he says, and regardless of what he thinks he believes, I think that he cares far more about the idea of the Dallas Cowboys, the brand of the Dallas Cowboys, than he does actually winning football games.
So, no, I don't, I don't trust him to do this at all.
Do I think that Jerry will make some moves to be relevant and to do something, and think that he's addressing a, a football need?
Yeah, I, I don't, I don't think that he's just gonna sit on his hands in this off-season, but do I trust?
No.
Why would I trust anybody who just traded Micah Parsons for a bag of peanuts?
No.
I mean, at the end of the day, the math is the math, and the salary cap is something you can adjust and get around all day long.
I understand that.
They'll find ways around it this year.
But I'll remind everybody that as we sit today, according to overthecap.com, that I've pulled up, the Cowboys are $30 million almost over the cap next year.
Yeah, I know.
And the cap is bigger than ever expected.
You're right, they will figure it out.
But when everybody says, "It doesn't matter that they waited forever to do the deal with Dak.
It doesn't matter that they wait forever to deal- do the deal with CeeDee," it does.
Like, at some point, the problem is, you wait, you wait, you wait, and you pay too much.
The f- the first thing you If you know you have your quarterback, if you look at it today, and you say, "Yep, we believe inside the building we have the right guy," the number one most important thing you have to do is sign them early.
I, I will die on this hill all day, every day.
The minute you see the sparkle, the twinkle, and you are, capable of renewing their contract, you do so.
By the way, updated numbers there, 33 million it says there.
Yeah.
So, if you, if you look at, at the ca- salary cap situation, you sign your quarterback early because every year, guys that shouldn't get paid, do.
And the more they get paid, the more it costs you.
So that's why you wanna do a long deal.
So all of this talk about, "It doesn't really matter, he just likes being in the news, they like to draw these things out because it, it creates clicks and conversation"- That costs you.
...That, that has financial consequence.
So now, when we have a league where you've got teams that have over $100 million in cap space right now, the Cowboys do not.
I just look across all of it, I just, the, the focus for Jerry is he loves the fact that people talk about the Cowboys.
And because he loves that, and he loves that more than just quietly winning, it just reminds me of every NBA team that decides they're gonna trade for LeBron instead of being OKC, and just building it the right way, the long way.
