People close to the Mets are genuinely stunned about how this has unfolded.

I think the most important point you really hit on is, Is at the top, more so with how Steve Cohen has talked about this team without saying, I'd like to win a World Series in the next 3 to five years.

Now, here we are; we're about to enter Year 6.

Does it feel like theyre about to win the World Series?

Not really.

Um, come out to the park; we deserve it, You know, we should be packing this place, blah, blah, blah.

They do it; they stink, right?

But whats really tough to talk about is all the points being, like, OK, they just had a really disappointing season.

That's why they should do something about it.

And I think that David Stearns is clearly seeing the roster and looking at the team Saying, yeah, I am doing something about it.

I'm completely changing the vibe.

The tone, the core, everything.

Now, you could very reasonably point out and be like, well, It wasn't Pete Alonso or Edwin Daz, and honestly, not even Brandon Nimmo's fault that the Mets sucked in 2024 or 2025, and that's true.

I think that's mostly how I feel.

But I also think that the same Mets fans who are very mad right now have also said Like, we gotta, we gotta do something different.

We got, This core is not getting it done.

But its what weve been talking about for the last week, That Stearns, these decisions are individually not surprising.

Theyre just not.

That David Stearns would be like, No, I'm notI don't want to pay Pete Alonso $30 million when he's 35.

I don't want to pay a closer that much.

I don't want to have this Brandon Nimmo contract With us.

That's all fine.

Those are all defensible, reasonable baseball decisions, but the context here is clear Different, and it's what you described: it is a hole that you are digging.

It is a hole that you are digging from PR standpoint, and from my perspective, More relevantly, just as we try to analyze the baseball team, I just don't know.

What the path forward is, I am feeling super jazzed about the Mets.
