NCAA denies Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby's request for reinstatement

Texas Tech quarterback Brenden Sorsby was denied reinstatement by the NCAA, sending his eligibility fight to a Texas courtroom.
He's seeking a temporary injunction to play in the 2026 season after completing a 35-day rehab program for a gambling addiction.
Remember, it was found that he gambled on several different things, hundreds of bets, thousands of bets, some of which included an Indiana team that he was on at the time, which has created this discourse.
He is suing for a temporary injunction because their argument is essentially it causes irreparable harm if he's not able to step on the field.
A g- a courtroom will have to rule on that.
Caroline, how do we feel about where we've gotten to now in this situation?
We have, precedence with this in the NCAA.
It was not that long ago when Hunter Dekkers permanently lost his NCAA eligibility after it was found that he was betting on Iowa State games.
He was an Iowa State player, was not on the active roster, just as Brenden Sorsby was not on the active roster at Indiana when he was placing bets on Indiana football.
But the NCAA didn't care because they said, "It is very clearly stated in our rules and in our bylaws, if you bet on college football and you bet on your own team, you will lose your eligibility."
That's what Brenden Sorsby did, and he's getting to come back for Texas Tech and make millions of dollars and earn his way i- and potentially into the NFL draft?
Yeah, I don't want this kid's life to end because clearly he has a gambling addiction and he's getting treatment for that, and I support that.
I think everybody should.
But it doesn't change the fact that he broke the rules, and we have precedence for that.
And if I'm Hunter Dekkers, I'm looking around and throwing my hands up and thinking, "Why was, why was it different for me?
Why were the rules for me but not for thee?"
I think the, the lack of consistency and the lack of a stronghold that I think that the NCAA has shown here is really embarrassing and potentially incredibly harmful to the future of gambling and the NCAA
