The Seattle Mariners are making a real argument for the season's most disappointing team.
On a weekend that revolved around celebrating 50 years of Mariners baseball, legends from franchise history showing up at T-Mobile Park, the Mariners offered a reminder that the story of this team sadly has been one of disappointment, as they were swept off the diamond by the Tampa Bay Rays, scoring a combined total of four runs over those three games.
It was a weekend of total frustration.
Jordan, Mr. Mariner, what the heck?
Yeah, boy.
Boy, do they stink right now.
That, that offensive no-show also extends back to the series before, when they were shut out in two of their three games against the Tigers last week.
They did squeak out a victory in that one to avoid this to be an L6.
This roster is as talented as ever.
The peaks of these players on this roster is All-Star level for almost all of these guys.
I know JP hasn't made an All-Star team, right?
But these are really, really, really good players, especially relative to franchise history, and yet all of them on the same team are amounting to 56 and 63 in arguably the most hyped season, or certainly the most hyped season of the century, maybe not in franchise history.
So I think it does say a lot about everything that's going on here.
Yeah.
It is this tragic encapsulation of what Mariners baseball has been about.
This organization is so good at putting on a show.
They're very skilled at community interaction.
They're very skilled at making all of this matter separate from the product on the field.
