Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Tyrone Tracy for a fantasy title?
Yahoo Fantasy analysts Matt Harmon and Justin Boone offer sit-start advice for a range of players ahead of Championship Week in fantasy football.
Video Transcript
All right, it's Week 17.
It's Fantasy Football Championship weekend.
Everything is on the line this week.
Justin Boone, We're going to give the people a player to start, a player to sit.
You get us started here with someone you're putting into lineups this week.
I'm definitely putting Tyron Tracy Jr.
Into lineups.
He's going up against the Raiders, but I want people to remember what he's done recently.
There's been some, like, complicating factors around it.
Including a very difficult matchup with the Vikings' defense last week.
And even in that game, with everyone around him, kind of failing, He still had 78 scrimmage yards.
So, it wasn't the worst fantasy performance.
But before that, the week before, 97 yards, and two TDs in Week 15.
They were on a bye in Week 14.
He left early with an injury in Week 13.
We go back to Week 12: 130 scrimmage yards.
Week 11, 139 scrimmage yards.
Now he faces the Raiders' defense.
That's the ninth-easiest opponent for fantasy backs.
And before the Raiders faced a banged-up, let's face it, Version of that Texans backfield last week, Before that, they had given up at least 90 yards.
And a touchdown to three straight starting running backs.
I think Tracy is going to hit those marks against them this week.
And he is somebody that is back in the fantasy RB2 mix for me.
Who are you going with for your start this week?
Yeah, I love that call.
I'll go to the wide receiver position.
I'll say Jakobi Meyers is right back in.
Fantasy football lineups this week.
Had kind of a solid game.
Uh, against the Denver Broncos, all things considered, there.
You know, obviously Patrick Surtain ended up shadowing Brian Thomas Jr. That left Riley Moss to mostly cover, uh, Jakobi Meyers.
And Riley Moss, you know, he'll give up some big plays every now and again.
That's gonna happen, you know, with DPIs, whatever, when you're across from Surtain.
He's still a pretty good cover corner.
So I think Meyers escaped with a pretty decent Outing against the Denver Broncos.
This is just a totally different spot this week.
This Colts team is so banged up in the secondary, and yet they're not adjusting.
Way they call plays on the back end there.
So you're seeing a lot of one-on-one matchups.
To wide receivers on the perimeter in the slot, and that's just a situation where Jakobi Meyers Is going to have the advantage over the guy covering him there.
So to me, I think he is a very safe play this week, with decent odds to get into the end zone.
In a game that I think could get pretty high scoring here between the Jags and the Colts.
All right, let's get negative.
Who are we trying to avoid and sit by?
In week 17?
I mean, this one might seem kind of surprising.
Based on what he did last week, but I'm sitting Justin Herbert going against the Texans' defense.
Coming off just such a nice game: 300 yards, two passing touchdowns.
Another 42 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
But let's face it, He did that against the Cowboys.
They're statistically the easiest matchup.
Fantasy quarterbacks.
Now he's got to go against the Texans.
They are at the complete opposite end of that category, Harmon.
They are the worst opponent for fantasy QBs.
And even more concerning here is the specific Matchup between that offensive line that the Chargers have, which has just dealt with injury After injury, after injury this season.
They're down several starters at this point.
And now they have to take on this Texans' pass rush, which is so fierce, One of the best in the league.
I think it's going to wreak havoc on Herbert.
The pocket.
So even coming off such a great performance in Week 16, I think you have to treat Herbert as more of, Like that QB2 streamer option, and you could probably find somebody better there for the Fantasy championships.
Pretty difficult to sit a guy coming off Legitimately one of the best quarterbacking games of the season, Based on EPA per drop back, but you can't be surprisedyeah.
If he has a bad game against that Texans Defense.
I'm with you on that one.
Another player who has been huge for us in fantasy at times this year, that I think you can This is Rico Dowdle, Carolina Panthers running back.
This one's just pretty simple, man.
You know, There are pockets of the season when guys are hitting and firing on all cylinders.
And then they go a little bit cold.
We see that at wide receiver a lot.
We see that at running back when circumstances change, and we certainly are seeing that with Rico Dowdle right now.
It's a split backfield in Carolina.
So neither one of these guys is truly in must-start territory.
And for Rico Dowdle, specifically in this matchup, he's still the lead back.
He is getting most of the base groundwork.
That's the kind of guy you don't want to be if You're going against the Seattle Seahawks defense because theyre a shutdown run unit.
And they don't give up a lot of production on the ground.
They actually do give up the most catches to running backs this season.
But that's troubling for Rico Dowdle, who's still involved as a pass catcher.
But Chuba Hubbard is the guy who runs more routes.
Like, he gets more of the passing-down work here.
So, it's just kind of another layer on top of what's not a very good fantasy equation for Rico Dowdle.
He's a guy I think is purely a runner.
Back three, a touchdown or outright bust play here in Week 17.
Which is a shame, because he's been so good for us at times this season.
But not somebody I think you could play in your fantasy championship if you got better options.
All right, those are your players to start, and players to sit in Week 17.
Good luck in your fantasy football championships.
