Mike Elko is a real one.

I read this, and I am the smiling and crying emoji.

That's what I am.

Quote from Mike Elko, the head coach of Texas A&M.

Is-- He's gonna refer to himself in third person, so follow me here 'cause it can be a little confusing.

Quote, "What does Mike Elko want?

40."

He's talking about the playoff size.

"Then I won't get fired.

It's okay to make it hard to get in the playoff."

pay attention, people.

This is where it gets real.

"None of us are answering for the good of the sport.

We're answering for the good of ourselves."

Frame it.

I want it on our wall by next show.

That is art.

That is poetry.

That is truth.

That's truth.

That's what that is.

Bradley, do me a favor.

Put, put it back up.

I just wanna look at it a little while longer.

Immunity.

this bottom paragraph here, ladies and gentlemen, is all I've asked for.

Just be honest.

Just be hon- Mike Elko, at this point, could advocate for a 64-team playoff, and I'd say, "Say whatever you wanna say, Mike," because that paragraph, those sets of words came out of your mouth.

"None of us are answering for the good of the sport.

We're answering for the good of ourselves."

That, again, with a mountain of respect, is why I couldn't care less what a coach thinks about the college football playoff and what the size of it should be.

'Cause you, by the very nature of your job description, are not here to look out for college football.

You're here to look out for yourself.

You're here to look out for longevity of career.

You know that the more playoff appearances on your Wikipedia page, the more likely you are to get raises and extensions, and at the very least, you don't get fired.

And Mike Elko is just basically peeling the Band-Aid off saying, "Hey, of course all of us want a bigger playoff.

It's harder to fire us if we're making the playoff, but we are answering for the good of ourselves."

Man, it's so refreshing.

I don't know why more guys don't do this.

Because you'll find if you're just honest about your motives, n-ninety percent of the time, people who disagree with you will look at you and say, "Well, I still disagree with you, but thank you for at least being honest with me."

Did you hear anybody criticize Mike Elko this week, Jesse?

I didn't hear a single person try and dunk on Mike Elko.

And if you'll notice, the dude never said he's against playoff expansion.

He's for it.

He's for it.

In fact, he said 40.

He was joking with that number, but clearly, clearly Mike Elko's sitting there advocating, I would guess, for a bigger playoff.

But at least he told the truth.

At least he told the truth, to which I am able to look and say, "Thank you," and also, that further proves my point that you should be far, far away from this decision.

And I say the same thing about any of those guys who advocate for expanding the playoff.

'Cause it's obvious what their motive is, and it's okay.

I don't have a problem with that being their motive.

I'd be the same way if I was a college football head coach.

But I would have no business having say-so in it.
