Thomas Frank is gone!
But here's the truth that nobody at Tottenham wants to hear: the next guy is already doomed.
I'm worried about him, all right?
So let's stop pretending, this is a, quote-unquote, "bad manager" problem, and figure out who, if anyone, can fix this broken club.
Who can?
At, at this point, you have to- the fish stinks from the head.
we've said this about Tottenham for 10 years now on this show- ... and it's just not changed.
There's something structural about this club.
The club needs to admit to its fans, "We don't wanna win trophies, we wanna make profit."
You know, they correl- they took the correlation between how much is spent in transfers versus winning, and there is no direct correlation with how much you spend in transfers- Yeah ... for winner, for winning.
What there is a real direct correlation, a very obvious direct correlation, is wage bill creates championships.
Yeah.
The more you spend on players, the more you win, because players wanna feel comfortable.
They wanna feel They don't wanna feel like, "Oh, why are they getting paid more over there?
Of course, yeah.
I wanna go over there."
It's very simple.
The more you pay players, the more likely you are to win, and you're sitting here talking about, "Wow, how great.
They don't pay a lot of players a lot of money, so that way they keep the, the, the profit and loss in line."
Let's think about, who are some possible re- replacements?
Who do you think could, could be the next Tottenham manager?
So the question is, who should be the next Tottenham manager, not who will say yes to being the Tottenham manager- That's -which is of two very different- ... two very distinctly different questions.
I think the name that has popped up, which I actually think would be a good fit, but it may be volatile, and that's Roberto De Zerbi.
I think he's a great fit.
He's someone that can do more with less, and I think he proved that at, excuse me, he proved that at Brighton, he's proved it at Marseille.
The thing I don't know that is a good fit is because he is a He, he kind of holds his club and the officials to their word, and that might not be a good fit at Tottenham.
You, you gotta, you gotta go with somebody that, again, has a deep connection with the club.
I feel like they haven't tried that in a long while.
Let's go with Robbie Keane, but Robbie Keane- This actually is a really good shout because he's doing amazing at Fenerbahce.
Yeah, I think this is Look, he's had Look, this would be a huge opportunity and a huge leap when it comes to going to a Premier League, to manage a Premier League team.
but he has, I think, enough relevant experience.
and, and but him, y- and he is a, a beloved player for Tottenham.
and I think that's maybe that, that injection of, like, history and culture at the, at the, you know, leading the team could help.
