Why the Atlanta Dream kept the roster together
Atlanta Dream head coach Karl Smesko explains the push to bring back the core after a strong finish, why it was hard with free agency, and how the players’ belief in Atlanta helped make it happen.

I thought it was important.
Like, I w- you know, I was going to Dan saying, "We want everybody back.
We run, wanna run this back."
And it was gonna be a great challenge for Dan, 'cause, in truth, all of our players, the, the s- end of the year starting five coming back, they all had tremendous years, and they're all free agents.
So, being able to bring them all back was gonna be a challenge.
Fortunately, our players recognized that they wanted another chance at this, and they love Atlanta the city, and they love Atlanta the organization.
And I think they feel like we're building something special here, and they wanted to continue to be a part of it.
so I just kept going to Dan, like, "How can we make this work?"
And it was up to, you know, Dan, and the agents, and the players to find a way.
And, you know, just did an amazing job getting everybody together, and, really eager to get started now
