Why do Ohio State football players have stickers on their helmets?

That's because it's a reward system.

This tradition started back in the day.

The 1967 season by the then-athletic trainer Ernie Biggs to motivate the team.

But how do players even get a sticker?

Well, they can get one in many different ways.

Such as if they secure wins, break records, or achieve goals.

So at the start of the season, players helmets are blank.

And throughout the season, they then tried to get as many stickers as they could, Which just so happened to be Buckeye leaves that grow on Buckeye trees.
