Yeah, he is, and I don't understand it either.
I was trying to explain this to someone right after the Olympics.
I mean, he's a 30-goal scorer.
He's huge.
He does everything well.
He plays in Minnesota, which is obviously not a Toronto, but it's still a very big hockey market.
But somehow, this guy is still underrated, and I was trying to figure out why that's happening.
But, I mean, obviously, that goal he scored at the Olympics is definitely gonna help with that.
But, I mean, he was great all tournament.
He's been good in Minnesota for a long time.
Yeah.
I think you, you hit on something there, Drew.
Is And it's You know, Minnesota is the state of hockey, but, like, the big American networks, you know, before Quinn Hughes got there, obviously, they didn't care about Minnesota in terms of putting the Wild on national games, right?
Like, they're not Chicago or Boston or the Rangers or even Detroit, where it's like you know that the big networks wanna spotlight those markets because they're big TV markets.
But I, I, I totally agree.
I think Matt Boldy's, still underrated.
He strikes me as the type of player that is just mentally so strong and in the right place.
Like, I remember talking to him at the players' tour in Vegas in the, in the off-season, and he wa- you know, he was just talking about wanting to be a difference-maker when he was growing up, and that was sort of his mentality, is he wanted the puck on his stick.
He wanted to score goals.
Like, he wanted to be that guy, and he has become that guy.
And, and Mike, as you mentioned, the Olympics were a perfect example.
Uh- Yeah Four Nations as well, I thought he was really good year prior, where it's like, yeah, Matt Boldy's gonna step up when you need him.
And if you think about that roster, all the superstar names, like, how many of those players made more of an impact than Matt Boldy?
Not many.
I also think, too, even when Minnesota was good back in the day, I mean, besides Gaborik, they were pretty painful to watch.
Yeah.
Right?
Right, like, overall, they just haven't had a lot of I mean, now that's obviously changing with Kaprizov, Hughes, everything else.
But- Mm-hmm they were also a team, if I was running the network, I mean, I wouldn't wanna put that game on 'cause it was a 2-1 game every time, even if they won.
So- Yeah I mean, he's just, like I said, I mean, he might be I think if you kinda asked a young hockey player now to name all the guys on USA's hockey roster, he'd be the last guy people would name, and was probably arguably one of their best, if not most impactful players.
