Abbey Murphy Excited To Be Part Of The History Of Women's Hockey Growth
Second overall PWHL pick Abbey Murphy discusses draft day, NHL Development Camp, her game, and coming to Seattle.

Where do you see the state of women's hockey, like, right now?
Growing.
You know, I mean, I mean, you look back, like I've done Kendall Coyne's camp for almost si- seven years now, and she talks about, like, when Cami was playing, and, like, when she looked up to Cami Granato and stuff like that.
And it's like hearing her perspective of, like, how women's hockey was barely even, like, a thing.
You know, everyone had to play boys' hockey, and everyone had to go find ways, like, to find ice and beg guys to, like, allow the girls to come out there.
You're getting dressed in closets.
You know, like, but to this day, where the PWHL's absolutely killing it.
You know, finding any way to, to be successful.
Selling out MSG, selling out TD Garden.
Like, like you said, it's closing.
You know?
And it's super cool that we're getting the opportunity to be a part of that.
But I look up to people like Kendall Coyne, who, who kinda I give a lot of credit to, who- who's done so much for the game.
You know, I can name name after name, Hilary and, and all these people.
But it's so cool to see, and it's fun to just be able to give a little bit to it.
Yeah.
So I'm excited to see the next couple years, five, 10 years, to see where it goes 'cause there's a lot of young girls who are, you know, doing these camps and just saying, like, "I wanna play professional hockey.
I wanna play college hockey."
And, you're giving them something to dream about, which, I mean, makes us happy, too- Yeah 'cause we used to be in their shoes.
