Alex Cora Turns Down Phillies Manager Job Again, Dombrowski Must Look Elsewhere

Alex Cora has turned down the Philadelphia Phillies manager job for a second time, saying no in April and again in recent days. A source says family considerations drove the decision, not baseball. Cora was the front-runner and counts Dave Dombrowski, his partner on the 2018 World Series title, among his closest mentors. Interim manager Don Mattingly went 79-55 and got Philadelphia to the playoffs before the Braves knocked them out, so the Phillies can either keep him or open a wider search.
