Astros vs. Rangers: AL West Playoff Race Heats Up!

The American League West has been one of those upside down divisions all season long.
It looked like the Houston Astros were out of it in May or June with a n- a negative run differential of, like, 30 or 40.
Brutal season for them.
All of a sudden, they turn it around and the Texas Rangers go from a team that was supposed to win the division that, I mean, may not even make the playoffs this season.
And they're gonna look back to last week, this past week, Tom, as maybe the reason why.
You cannot do this against the Los Angeles Angels.
And, and I understand the Angels are headed in the right direction.
I actually really like a lot of the things that they're doing, and I saw them here in Miami last weekend.
But Tom, they are playing guys, with all due respect, I have never heard of at the end of their rotation.
In their lineup.
Yeah.
Like, out of the bullpen.
I saw Major League debuts going on in August, Tom, because they're cutting guys and trading guys.
You cannot get swept by the Angels.
The Rangers did.
And to make matters worse, they lost to the t- the worst team in baseball in the A's on Friday night.
Now Fr- Saturday, probably took a, you know, Skip Schumaker probably took a deep breath and said, "Oh my gosh, thank goodness we finally won a game here."
you know, but, but again, you know, what can you say, Tom?
Texas, Seattle, one of those teams wins five in a row, all of a sudden they win the division.
Right.
That, that could potentially happen this year.
They could be right back in it.
And, you know, also to make matters worse is they lost deGrom in one of those starts.
Now, they didn't say what it officially was.
They said he came out due to tricep soreness or tricep f- fatigue, whatever it was.
But you're dropping not just one or two, you're losing the entire series versus the Angels, who are vying for the worst record in the league overall.
You're gonna lose potentially multiple games at the Athletics.
It's just unacceptable when the division's up for grabs.
It's not like they're holding onto a wildcard spot and say, oh, they only have one path to make the postseason.
They could win the division after how bad the division has been overall.
Just an unacceptable week for the Rangers when they didn't do much at the deadline.
