The Chicago Bears were able to, get D'Andre Swift after he was released by the Philadelphia Eagles following the twenty-twenty-three season.
They signed him to a three-year deal worth twenty-four million dollars and he has, lived up to that contract so far.
He had, just under a thousand yards in, twenty-twenty-four and then last season he eclipsed one thousand yard mark for the second time in his NFL career.
He started out with the Detroit Lions in twenty-twenty and, he had his moments but could never really find his footing in a crowded running back room and on top of that he, struggled with some injury history early on in his career as well.
Then he went to the Philadelphia Eagles in twenty-twenty-three and was able to establish himself more and became a one-thousand-yard rusher for the first time in his NFL career.
But then the, the Eagles were not willing to pay him after that season and then he ended up with the Bears whereas he, he has become a, a focal point of this Bears rushing attack which was, one of the best in the country last season.
With Swift, he understands that he is entering a, big year for his time with the Bears as his contract is going to be up in twenty-twenty-seven meaning that he will be an unrestricted free agent next year.
He was asked about, if he believes that his best football is ahead of him and he agreed completely.
For Swift, he is, the back-- the backfield of the Bears is going to remain the same with him as the, the main lead back and then there's also going to be Kyle Monangai and Roshon Johnson in the mix as well.
For Swift, he is, he understands that the running back market is, very volatile and that running backs are not seen as valuable as they used to be.
With Swift, he-- it's great that he, has this kind of mentality entering such a big year for his Bears career and it could definitely play a part in if the Bears decide, to re-sign him after this season is over.
Hopefully this won't be the last year that we see Swift in a Bears uniform but if it is, we know that he is going to put his best foot forward and give one thousand percent every game.
