4-1 last night.
The score actually isn't indicative of how lopsided the game was.
That was completely one-sided.
From the get-go, that was one-sided.
It was all Belgium.
And, and I mean it was all Belgium.
And Team USA, I, I don't think Team USA should hold their heads down and really be angry except for the mistakes that they made.
Because when you go play a higher caliber of opponent, you have to be perfect.
You can't make sloppy mistakes.
You can't forget how to mark somebody on the back end.
You can't forget guys are making runs and whiff on balls that you need to clear.
You can't get caught not being able to communicate with your teammate about who is taking whom and what ball is whom.
And Belgium just was on it last night.
They were better.
i- in almost every facet, they were just the better soccer team.
And when you lose to a better soccer team, I don't think you can be too angry about this.
Yes, Tillman's goal was pretty impressive.
The 31th, th- 31st minute, right on top of the 18, over the wall, deflecting off of a guy's hea- head, into the back of the net.
It was a break.
It was a lucky break for Team USA, otherwise they would've been blanked for nothing.
Tillman became the first player in over 40 years to score on two direct free kicks in a World Cup.
Pretty impressive.
But then El- then Belgium came right back, it was 2-1, and you felt like, "Okay, maybe Team USA is gonna have something.
Maybe Team USA is gonna..." Then bam, 3-1.
And that was it.
I mean, that, that was it.
Once it went to 3-1, it was over.
Matt Freese was not good.
Like, he, he was just I, I don't know what he was doing when he came out trying to make a play on the ball.
You either have to take the guy out and, and, and just go ahead and guarantee that there's gonna be a free kick but you stop the, the ball from going in, or you kick the ball and just let it go.
I don't know why he froze.
And not to be a, make a joke, but Matt Freese froze.
He didn't kick the ball.
Like, he just, I don't know what he was doing there.
It was this complete avalanche of errors for Team USA.
And I understand that people are starting to want to assign blame.
I, I, I get it.
Like, somebody has to be to blame for this, right?
It can't just be that Team USA got smoked.
Like, it can't just be that Team USA wasn't good enough.
So someone has to blame, right?
So okay, so because Trump got involved, that's why we lost.
No.
Okay, I, I'm not gonna buy that.
What happened was one team is a top 10 team in the world, and the other one is not.
Christian Pulisic is supposed to be the best soccer player on that roster, and he was great against Paraguay.
He was great in some of the earlier match-ups.
But you need your best players in your biggest games to be at their best.
And that guy gets hurt too much.
Like, we spend all this time hyping the guy up.
