Boston Red Sox Make History in Much Needed Win Over Diamondbacks
The Red Sox kicked off a six-game homestand with an emphatic win over the Diamondbacks.

After hitting rough waters in the last week or so, the Red Sox kicked off a six-game home stand against a pair of National League West teams on Monday night with an emphatic 11 to 1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, accomplishing something that hasn't been done since 1949 in the process.
In the thumping of the Diamondbacks, every single member of the Red Sox starting lineup logged an RBI, while not a single player struck out, marking the first time that a single team has done that across Major League Baseball since 1949, when the Red Sox themselves did it against the St. Louis Browns.
And obviously this was a major game for the Red Sox.
They had kind of fallen into some of the tendencies that were causing them issues earlier in the season that led to them being one of the worst teams in the American League.
Offensively, they were swinging out of their shoes at bad pitches.
Their swing decisions were just simply not good enough.
When they got on the base paths, they were being too aggressive.
One example of that that comes to mind is Xion Rafaella trying to take two bases on a passed ball during the series in Toronto.
And defensively, the pitching staff, the starting rotation just wasn't getting deep enough into games.
Jake Bennett appears to be hitting a little bit of a rookie wall with an increased workload, while Ranger Surez hasn't necessarily looked like himself since returning from the injured list right after the All-Star break.
And it's caused an increased amount of tax to be put on the Red Sox bullpen, which of course, has seen Garrett Whitlock and Justin Slayton go down with injuries in recent days.
So for them to come back home and get back on track is really a major step in proving that the last month and a half wasn't a fluke, and that this is a team that can compete for a World Series.
So they'll look to keep things rolling on Tuesday night in game two of three from Fenway.
