What, what did you read on the pick, Brian?
Uh , just more just playing to my, uh, my strength and my, uh, my leverage on that situation, playing my rules.
I mean, using quarters.
He kind of just try to, uh, throw a little, a little dart, a little seam ball.
I was able to break on it in time.
So I played before you're really talking up DJ and the ball down the sideline.
Is that just who you are to a T in game?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I could tell.
I mean, today is 11 of them harder days.
I mean, I could tell it.
And then obviously we're corner, man.
I mean, we don't really, you know , offense is not that they can sub in and out, you know, our defense don't really sub in and out, somebody on the corners like that.
So when they run a deep ball, they had to run back to the huddle, whereas like the receivers might go back, you know, and take a, take a breather out of the water, um, so understand that me being a post player and be a post safety, um, I had to be out on the sideline.
So I'm probably the closest person as far as like that understands that, uh, that strengthening our heart rate up.
Um, as a corner would, so I'm more, I told him to it's kind of funny.
I was talking to him like, come on, you're good, come on, we, we worked through it.
Oh, times like myself.
I'm like, I'm tired too, you know what I'm saying?
So stuff like that, I feel like, you know, it kind of adds to it.
I mean we've built a great foundation so far, um, but it'd be those, those moments like that where, um, and, and if you look at it too, like that was a play right before the pick.
So for me it was a, a contribution to, like, all right, when I'm tired, I'm still for my best, you know what I'm saying, to lead with words and then lead with action on the next play, what does that say to a defense?
Um, the relentlessness, you know, um, I, I know we kinda Um, greedy to some, to some extent, you know what I'm saying?
We, um, also being stingy.
Those are some words that, that I threw out a few previous, um, interviews, but it's kind of what it is, you know, at the end of the day, you know, we are a stingy defense.
We're trying to take the ball back as much, as much, as many times as we can.
Uh, I know I stunt, stunned a little bit, but, um, for the most part, it's more just being aggressive, um, touching the detail, flying around, playing as one, and also me me to be my brother's keeper, you know what I'm saying?
I know we, we all tired, but can make it, make a play, you know what I'm saying.
At any given moment it could happen, you know, I could be tired and have a Great pace at the, uh, great break at the post and then you know that's longer to sack.
So things like that, it, it, man, it boosts the whole morality of a defense and just adds momentum.
I know it's only been one week, but can you say, Brian, with confidence, OK, I see this defense making a lot of plays and showing growth already.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't say too much, but for sure.
What are you noticing so far?
Um, just, uh, the way you respond to adversity, you know.
Um, for a lot of guys, a lot of people, you know, you get faced with certain, certain aspects in life, and then you have to make a decision.
Am I going to rise to the occasion or am I going to fall, you know what I'm saying, victim to it.
So I feel like we have had times where we had, you know, a wake up moment and we respond well every time, and if you can keep doing that.
And so the season and not getting, you know, post, postseason and things like that, man, it's just, it adds strength to the, um, to the team and, you know , strength to us individuals, you know, understand that we can go out there and perform at a high level despite how we feel.
You were talking about a combo.

Was there someone you felt had an assist on that pick six that you wanted to?

Oh, there's so many cameras, you know, I tried to put the spotlight off, yeah, I got like 8 cameras over here.
I'm like, I'm, I know I'm kind of in the limelight, but I'm not really a camera guy, to be honest with you.
What do you shoot from 49, uh, what do you shoot from 49 in the Middle East.
He's got the helmet.
It's the second half of the league, man.
Just, um, just I think the first thing I would say is just he's willing to learn, um, I mean, I say that because like as a leader.
Sometimes you can get to a place where you'd be complacent and you feel like, OK, I know it all, but for him only being in year two, he's just very like, hey, like let me learn, you know what I'm saying, teach me things, and he's willing to teach me as well.
Um, so that's one, and then also being a man and, and, and being an anchor for the defense in the middle, you know what I'm saying, the linebackers.
It's, especially in the field, it's a tough position to play because you got to worry about, you know, the coverage, the rush, the, the front, things like that for him to handle it and, and this, you know, guy next to him to handle it, um, it's just, man, it's remarkable to see, and I think because of the fact that they are in year 2, as a veteran, it's not, it's, it's a very exciting to see, you know what I'm saying.
I, I, I can spend my next what, 2322223 years with him, so.
Well, at least, yeah, yeah, yeah, so I could see him grow much more than today, but his standard or his, uh, foundation he set himself, man, it's a, it's a blessing to even to be a part of it.
How important is it, Brian, on that, on your interception to see, um, the pressure up front because that's one thing Al Golden talked about is that what led to that interception was getting Joe off the spot and getting him to throw across.
Yeah, I mean, I said, everything works together, you know what I'm saying.
When you really go and draw your ass back and look at it, whether it be offense or defense for that matter, everybody has a part and everybody is part of the, the engine, you know what I'm saying.
So when we all kind of play on the same accord, that's when things like that happen.
But I say that because my bad.
I say that because ultimately, like, you know, let's say for instance, beginning play, um, I might have, and this is, this anything DB could get beat, whatever, but then you have a good rush up front and then now a person gets in position to get a pick.
You know, we all are playing it together, so for the front to get pressure on the quarterback, for us to give me a chance, especially me to give me a chance to take more chances on the ball, you know what I'm saying?
No, like, you're not gonna have time like that .
So once you make a decision, like, OK, he's throwing the ball, break, whether you break it , you're ready to throw it or not, you know what I'm saying either, either gonna be an interception or be uh, a sack.
Um, but having trusted my front line to be able to do that.
Why is it so rebelling.
I also joked that, uh, dropped the pick.
Uh, I did, so, yeah, they, they was trying to make good on that.
Yeah, they were joining me.
I had a few players I wish I could take it back from the practice, but it was nice to end up with the pick.
But yeah, they were joining on me for a little bit, you know, butterfingers, all that stuff.
I'm like, bro, I didn't even, I barely seen the ball in the first part.
So, OK, I try to tell them like, yo, that all that means is that's gonna come back around because in my first time actually getting close to the ball, so I didn't count.
And so, you know, obviously now I got, I guess you could say like the luggage is open, not just for me but for the whole, the whole defense, you know what I'm saying?
I think that's a, um, I think you're trying to, we're trying to very, very much focus on getting the ball back, especially for Joe Burrow and the offense, um, and I was gonna make a play today.
So you talk about different plays that may happen throughout practice.
What does it mean for the defense to be able to end the day like that off and on about, I mean, just not about today.
I think even go back to yesterday and how we were tied it yesterday, and didn't how we stacked it.
You know, greatness, people think that greatness is a, is a, is a sometimes thing.
It's a, it's an all the time everyday thing and The question, uh, I had a, a conversation with some guys yesterday .
Um, it's about a different kind of similar topic, but more like the question is more like , hey, are you willing, you know, are you willing to sacrifice?
Are you willing to go through the, the tough moments to see the other side?
Um, and so then are you willing to put your best foot forward every day?
Are you willing to, you know what, uh, I'm a little hurt this, this morning.
I mean, I should do, I do some extra recovery tonight so that tomorrow I can be ready to go.
Am I willing to, to stack the day I had yesterday.
It's like, well, it's like it today, you know what I'm saying, but you have to have the, the, the courage to do so, you know what I'm saying, and the um There was relentlessness because at the end of the day you're gonna feel pains, you're gonna feel aches and bruises, but you gotta ask yourself, I say at the end of the day, like, am I willing, you know, that that group that you're talking about, is that your teammates here in the, yeah, yeah, yeah, teammates here.
It was a team meeting or no, it was just a couple of guys, you know, um, uh, the conversation was pretty good.
I opened a personal business out there, but yeah, yeah, but it was just more just like, you know, we just as men, we were just challenge each other as men, you know what I'm saying?
And I feel like for me I was able to learn some things about them.
I was able to share my story too.
He's about, it's about.
Like, you know, good stuff, like, you know, um, God and, and, and marriage and, you know, things like that, and we get down to a question like, are you willing, you know, like for us, like, you know, are you willing to, to, to follow God?
Are you willing to go through the storms and, and tribulations for Him, um, but you translate that into everything for football.
Are you willing to go through the tough days to learn it, you know what I'm saying?
Like for me, he ain't catch a ball.
