"Good Morning Football" weighs the impact of New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to determine if the three-time Pro Bowl selection can still make an impact similar to his earlier playing days.

There's something very pure about players' reactions to making various rosters around the NFL.
But if you're Odell Beckham Jr., you've done this before.
However, this one hits different.
OBJ made the Giants roster, and yesterday he was emotional after learning that he's back with his original team.
Seeing my son at the game, him being like, "Dad," you know what I mean?
And it's like I had that kinda like that, those tears when I got back to the hotel after figuring out, you know, I'm gonna be here and I have an opportunity to, rewrite some of the last bit of the, the chapter.
Don't know, last year, whatever it is, I just know I'm gonna give my all.
Good things get rewarded to good people, you know, for sure.
And then, like I say, he's been a, a great leader, so you know, to have him in there is, you know, is definitely a good, good choice.
All right.
Buy in or keep trying?
Odell Beckham Jr.
Certainly thinks that he's gonna have an impact on the Giants offense this year.
Manti, you buying this, or you gonna tell me to keep trying?
I'm gonna say keep trying, as far as his impact on the offense.
And when you have Malik Nabers, you have Isaiah Lively, who's coming over there from Baltimore with Brian Harbaugh, you understand who their favorite targets are gonna be, in the passing game.
But I will say it's a big deal in his impact on the team because if there's somebody that knows New York better than anybody else on that roster, it's Odell.
If there's somebody that knows, Coach Harbaugh in a, in a way and in a fashion that can help with this chemistry between the two different parties, two new parties, it's Odell.
So I don't think he's gonna have that type of impact that we're used to seeing the last time he was in the New York Giants uniform, Jamie.
But I do think his impact is gonna be felt in the locker room, it's gonna be felt in that city with the franchise from ownership to John Harbaugh.
He's gonna be that bridge between the two gaps.
So I do think, Willie, that that's a big deal.
I hear you, Manti.
I, I'm buying it.
And I think for Giants fans, they're caught up with the nostalgia of OBJ and the guy who he currently is.
And I think part of the issue with OBJ right now is that we gotta remember, he, he got to the team at, towards the back end of training camp, towards the back end of OTAs.
So he's learning this new system under Matt Nagy.
He's trying to figure it out.
I mean, he was They threw him the ball a lot this preseason, and he was a little bit up and down, and I think he's, he's admitted that.
I think when you look at the nostalgia side, you know, you, you're looking for that guy who can take the slant and go, has that home run speed, a big short end catcher, a guy who's a mismatch for any DB on the field.
He's no longer that guy, but he still is a worthy po- possession receiver.
He still can be hell on a slight.
And when you have a young quarterback in Jaxson Dart, you need somebody who can be that calm and that stabilizer.
He can still be that guy.
Now, as far as the Giants as a receiving core, man, they need OBJ because this is still a young kind of veteran group.
They have Darius Slayton, they have Malachi, Fields, and they have a couple other guys that they're still trying to figure out and what they can become.
OBJ, as Manti mentioned, he knows the market.
He's still trying to figure out where, what he looks like in this system.
But I'm buying the fact that he can have an impact for the, on this offense because they're gonna need it.

Listen, I don't know if this is a hot take.
I, I, I completely buy this.
You don't keep him if he's not gonna have an impact, nostalgia be damned.
John, John Harbaugh's coached a lot of really good players that bring a lot of nostalgia.
He doesn't need that.
My hot take is I, I think Odell among wide receivers is gonna be second in catches at the end of the year.
There you go.
I think Nabers will be number one, and I think Odell will catch a lot.
I don't know if Jaxson Dart's stretching the field four quarters a game every single week, or maybe it's a little more get the ball out of my hands, a few shorter passes, things like that hopefully.
And I think Odell will be there for it.
I think he's a pro.
I think he knows how to get open probably better than a lot of the guys on this team.
I think he'll be really good this year.
Otherwise, you don't keep him.
And guys, if we're a month into this thing and Odell has two catches, I, I don't know if he's on the team anymore.
Like, it's They, they can go all directions.
I tend to think positive.
