All right, let's dive into this Andre Josseva discussion, and Andre.
Talked for a bunch of time with reporters, spent time with reporters on Tuesday, and Not shocking to see that.
He's really good about talking with the media, and I, I think he's willing and comfortable to do so, which I, I like.
And why wouldn't you?
I think as a fan, you should like that too, cause you get to see Andre, you get to his honest answers a lot of times.
And what was interesting is the conversations, uh, that, that he had about his role, uh, about some of the messages and DMs.
And so let's start there .

And uh yeah, just Uh, a, a, a bit agitated, I think, and, and emotional, um, in control, but certainly emotional.
Andrei Yosavva talking about some of the messages he received last year and, and just kind of the reaction to some of the, the DMs that he was receiving.
I mean, I guess the cliche at this point would be focus on what you can control, control the controllables, and work on your own craft.
Is that your approach?
Yeah, that's how I've usually always been.
I felt like last year I was in my head a little bit.
Um, and yeah, why do you think I was against you?
Uh, just because like the situations were weird.
I had like those drops in those games and like people were telling me to kill myself and all that kind of stuff, so I never had that kind of stuff happen to me before.
So it was, it got in my head a little bit, you know, when your DMs are flooded with people telling you to kill yourself and stuff.
So, are you serious that people were in your DMs like that?
Yeah, so it makes me angry, honestly.
What, what?
All right, so Andre clearly not wanting to talk about it, not wanting.
To, to dive into it too deep and explain his mindset.
And then our guy Jay Morrison, who you can read at Bengalstalk.com, got more video of Andre discussing his mindset , discussing the Kobe Young pick, discussing, uh, everything that comes with being a receiver going into a contract year with the Cincinnati Bengals.
This is a contract year.
How are you feeling?
What does it change anything for you?
Uh, I don't know.
I'm not really going into this year expecting anything.
I'm just gonna do me and whatever happens happens.
Uh, I don't really hope for anything.
I just be.
I just am, so whatever happens happens.
Is that because they voiced something to you or is that just in your, you're thinking?
That's just how I am now.
Yeah.
The front office has done a lot this offseason, a lot of changes in the defense.
What have you seen that they've done and how exciting is it to be back here and see all the changes?
Yeah, it's really exciting.
I'm, I remember it was Saturday night and we signed Dexter.
I like, I, I stand on my phone.
I was sitting with my boys and I yelled.
I was like, holy shit, like, we just signed Dexter Lawrence, and I think I blacked out that night, honestly, so it was a good, that's how I feel about it.
Yeah, he's a great dude, great locker room guy actually, you know, it's fun to see guys who are that great at their job also be great locker room presence and work hard.
So I think he's gonna be a great addition to the team.
Is there, is there something about you or your game that when people see you out there this fall, they'll be like, wow, he's, he's improved in that.
Um.
I don't know.
I feel like I improve every year, but it's, it's weird because it's a contract year and like, but we have the same receiver room, um, so it'll be, it'll be fun.
I mean, I just want to make the most of all my opportunities, and that's how I always am.
Um, yeah.
Is it like they opened the door for like a choose a food competition?
Have they talked to you about what that is?
I don't really care about that kind of stuff, honestly.
I just do me and whatever happened.
I, I feel like I've been fighting for that spot for like 3 years, so I don't really care.
What's your expectations this year for yourself?
Just play my best and that's, that's all I can hacking and I think I'm a great player, so that's what I'm gonna play at.
All right, so a couple of things and a lot to unpack there.
Look, Andre Josevas saw the gripes, saw the complaints, and I think that he's someone that is active on social media as a lot of, of young people are.
Pay attention to social media.
And so, uh, that's the first thing is, man.
Having his DMs closed would uh would would maybe help.
But is there any excuse for, for the stuff he was receiving?
No, but it, it does come with the territory, and, and that's part of it.
And it's an unfortunate part, but it is a part.
And, and if you're in the public light at all, you're going to subject yourself to clowns, idiots, uh, ignorant people, and you let it get to you or you don't .
And I think Andre probably let it get to him a little bit last year, and It was a, it was a tough year.
It's a tough year on the team.
He, he's not a big reason why they were 6 and 11.
Could he have made a few more plays?
Absolutely, but they were a flawed team, so I don't put it on Andre.
Uh, what I do think.
What I do think is, is really interesting.
is how much Andre could vault himself this this this season.
It's a contract year.
I was looking back at Tyler Boyd and what he was doing, right?
And, and like, could Andre get 60 catches and average 10 yards a catch.
So 60 catches, 600 yards, and so let's say 5 touchdowns, 7 touchdowns, whatever.
Absolutely , I think that.
I think 65 catches, 70 catches, anywhere in that 60 to 70 range with a, a healthy Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase Diggins, even if all their, all those guys are healthy.
I think that's realistic.
They're gonna throw the ball all over the damn place.
And and I told Andre that on Tuesday, I wasn't in the scrum, but I had heard about it like media members like, man, Andre.
Just discussing things, how we can't focus on DMs and this and that, and I'm just like, man.
70 catches, like that could easily happen, and I get it.
It it's frustrating if you think maybe you think about the numbers and not about the team, but in this offense, that just comes, and there's gonna be times when that happens, and you have your big games, and last year was weird because it went.
Joe Burrow, Jake Browning, Joe Flacco , Joe Burrow, and it's hard to get into a rhythm.
But if he has Joe Burrow this year, he's going to produce.
I'll buy that stock.
Like if, if you look at Andre Jossuva and his body of work , and then you say, overachieved at every, from the jump, overachieved at Princeton, got drafted, impressed the Bengals during the pre-draft process, gets here, blows them away.
They think he's gonna be productive right away.
He does produce as a rookie, 6th rounder to produce as a rookie, tough to do, and yet he was doing it in this offense with Joe Burrow, 2nd year, does the same thing.
Last year, man, it's a cluster with all the injuries.
And, and , and still, it's, it's not like he was bad.
Like he, he did put up some numbers, but it, it wasn't the same, right?
435 yards and 2 touchdowns, 33 catches, but should have been 40 catches, 45 catches, 50 catches, should have gone up.
36 catches.
36 catches, 479, and 6 touchdowns as as a sophomore in his second season.
That's where I'm at with Andre.
Like I think he's gonna, that catch number is gonna be 50, probably minimum.
He's gonna have 500+ yards for the first time in his career, 5 touchdowns, and that if he has 50 catches, he's probably gonna have, if he averages what he's averaged over the past couple of years, 13 yards a catch, do the math there.
It it's, it's going to be.
Significantly higher than that, that 10 yards per catch, and, and he'll be at that 650, 650 yard mark.
And, and that's where I think this wide receiver 3 battle ends up.
Andre 3 in that wide receiver room in catches, third in that receiver room in yards.
And I get it.
Mike Osei exists and Chase Brown is gonna eat into that, fine, but if this offense is good.
There's going to be opportunities for Andre, and he's going to matter, and that's what I would tell him, because I, I, I get it, I understand everything that that.
The, the criticism, I understand the criticism, some of it's fair.
The BS nonsense in the DMs is not, it's cowardly and ridiculous.
And yet I think Moving past it is going to make him stronger and put him in position in a contract year to have a big year.
So, I believe in Andre Josuba.
I think he's gonna have a big year.
I think he's gonna get paid next offseason.
I think that's what's going to happen.
And sometimes you have to go through some things.
I remember Tyler Boyd, in his 2nd year, he's a healthy scratch, and he wasn't playing much.
He had 600 yards as a rookie, and I remember talking to him at his locker, and he was like, look, I'm either gonna, it's either gonna work here, or I'm gonna go somewhere else, and then that's when I'll get paid, and that's when I'll, and, and he meant like, get paid, be productive, be a guy in this league, and establish himself that way.
And obviously he figured it out and was really productive in year 3 and year 4 and became.
Uh, a player that ended up catching 513 passes with the Bengals.
Like he ended up mattering a ton and, and played in huge games and helped the Bengals get to the Super Bowl and AFC championship game, and, and, and all of the things that Tyler Boyd helped.
But there was times of doubt, and I think Andre probably doubted either doubted himself or read into uh some of the comments he was receiving.
Time to move past that.
And I, I think he's going to, I'll buy that Andre Yosubas so if you are selling it.
